1. You need money for motivation (& for Ads).
Content creation can get difficult without motivation. How much you can make without even seeing some small motivation from the other side in some form? One of the most important factor for motivation is your content gets seen by people.
I don’t trust organic reach because unless it’s really great at the beginning itself you could be firing in the dark. I prefer reaching people through Ads initially, till you get a bunch of followers, so that you start off with the best foot in position.
Can I start with organic reach alone? Yes. Like I mentioned you won’t know how much reach you’re gonna get right from day 1. That’s the problem.
2. You cannot always create and that’s okay.
There will be some days where a bunch of things can be against you, like the weather, your energy and many other things. In those days, instead of trying too hard, just take a breath and know that it’s part of the process.
It’s like a sine wave, it goes up and down. So acknowledging it is the first way to get over the fatigue.
On these days, create different types of content maybe create designs that you can use for you social media posts if you write text daily mostly. Switching the content format can feel refreshing and ignite the sparks.
3. Have an achievable target and stick to it.
When starting out creating content, it is helpful to know exactly how much content your going to create, for example if it’s an article, have a rough estimate of how many words you’re going to write, if it’s a social media posts then how many posts you’re going to create, having a calculation beforehand can give you a roadmap on how much content left to be created.
It just puts in a line instead of getting confused on how much content to create.
Some days you may feel like creating more and some days you feel like creating less, always maintain an average amount so that you’re making at least the minimum content with which you’re ok.
4. Consistency is the game.
Consistency makes or breaks the content game. I wonder sometimes when I see low quality pages have gained millions of followers just by being consistent.
Consistency. It’s so important. I can’t stress this enough.
It’s better to be consistent than to make more content. It’s that important. Posting 1 post daily for 100 days is better than posting 100 at a time and not showing up afterwards.
The systems take some time to get to know you and your content. So be consistent.
You can be slow. It’s allowed. Inconsistency. Not allowed.
Also you get to burn out, it’s neither this side or that side yet a balance of both.
5. Don’t keep on making content. Also Test what works.
Testing and creation always go side by side. To test, you first need content. Create a decent amount of content and run ads on it and see what people are interested in.
You can always make more content of what you like. Also, without testing, you’d lose motivation because you will feel like no one is seeing your content.
That’s why testing is crucial.
You must test the content simultaneously after the initial amount of creation.
Right now the ads cost low on many social media platforms, so just run ads and get feedback to know what’s resonating with the audience.
6. You don’t have to have a perfect niche. The niche evolves.
Yes. You don’t need to start off with the niche totally sorted out. You are in control of your content.
You can always go back and forth with the topics which you’re creating. People waste a ton of time when it comes to finding their niche. It’s not that difficult.
Post content related to your niche and your own niche will evolve as time goes on. I would say niche is not the important element. In the last points we talked about consistency.
There is a lot more stuff to worry more about than the niche. So just get started with whatever you like and you can change your topics over time.
7. Have one strong source of income before you start making content.
Content creation takes time before you try to earn a living through content creation. So during those times, you should not be asking money from many.
Mostly your family and friends. It can be helpful sometimes, but you will lose confidence in your content if you are not feeling confident and having clarity at many times.
I would suggest not getting into the content game without having one solid income stream.
If the content creation doesn’t turn out well, can you still be ok? is the question you should ask. It’s always smart to have money. It just makes the process so much easier.
8. Focus on one suitable, relevant platform first.
The fomo is real in the content game. It’s always there. It’s just pointless.
Focusing more than two or three platforms at once will only lead to confusion and reduce the efficiency and post production of your content. Just stick with 2-3 platforms max that are most relevant to your topic and then just keep firing.
Don’t get caught up in the fomo world and mess up. It’s always more depth than width.
Go full on swing on the platforms that’s suitable for your content type/topic instead of being in the fomo of whatever. Stop the fomo. Start zoning in.
Bonus
- Don’t go on multiple platforms with the same content. Each platform is slightly different. Also remember, something is better than nothing.
- Know how much you’re going to create beforehand. Daily, weekly & monthly.
- There are many ways to earn online. For each way, you should spend specific amount of time on that one particular way. You cannot jump frequently.
